Introducing CTCA’s New Logo

Comanche Trail resident Nick Baxter designed the new logo for CTCA, which was approved by the Board of Directors at their last meeting. Nick was last featured as the Neighborhood Spotlight in the January 2023 issue of our newsletter.

Nick describes his process for designing the new logo and his inspiration:

In thinking of ways I could contribute to the neighborhood using my skills as an artist and designer, I approached the board of directors with an offer to redesign and update the Comanche Trail logo, which had been unchanged for many years. In doing so, I wanted to make sure our new logo reflected the wishes of our residents as much as possible, so first a survey was sent out to neighborhood residents via the monthly newsletter email. In that survey, I asked responders to rank their favorite neighborhood features, chosen from a list I provided.

From the nearly 40 responses the survey received, “Lake Travis” was the overwhelming recipient of first place votes. The neighborhood feature that received a comparable amount of second place votes was “hill country views,” and the feature with the most third place votes was the “abundance of trees.”

Using this community feedback, I worked up several logo variations featuring water, hills, and trees. Ultimately, the design chosen by the board of directors at our subsequent meeting was one featuring the iconic view of our beautiful peninsula from the Oasis Resort, framed with rounded corners reminiscent of an old film camera negative. Accentuating this well-known scene is a large sun setting behind the peninsula, which is a visual treat that can be enjoyed nightly during the summer months from anywhere on the lake or from the hills of our neighborhood. I hope this new logo encapsulates the spirit of our unique location for our residents and reminds them of home!
